What do you think – does the customer feel safe while shopping in your web shop?

I have already hinted that ensuring a secure journey through online payments is one of my main missions, I dare say the most important one. So today, I am reopening that topic because I want us to build a secure environment for online shopping together.

First, I want to emphasize that at CorvusPay we will never ask you to send us your personal information via email, social media, messaging apps, or any similar channels. If you receive such messages, please delete them immediately.

I remind you to implement strong security measures for user accounts on your web shop. Additionally, regularly update and maintain all software components, including the e-commerce platform, CMS system, plugins, and themes. This helps prevent security vulnerabilities and reduces the risks of attacks. Monitor transactions, check logs on your system, and track visitor statistics – this way, you will quickly notice any irregularities or suspicious activities.

Ensure customer support that is available to customers for all security and technical inquiries, as this will reassure them that you will support them in case of issues or suspicions of fraud. Here, you can rely on AI chatbots, which can provide quick and accurate answers to customer questions at any time.

Provide clear information and guidance to customers about the security of purchasing on the web shop. Inform them about the security measures you have taken to protect their data and encourage them to be cautious when sharing sensitive information. Warn them about increasingly common fraudulent offers via email, social media, or mobile apps with unrealistically high discounts, which contain links to online pages requesting personal and card information. Remind them not to fall for such messages, as the sender’s sole aim is to gather data for misuse and financial gain.

Ensure that your customers are informed about the most important security threats when making online purchases and share the following tips with them:

  • Do not click on links from social media or suspicious email messages.
  • Check the online address of the shopping site; avoid sites that do not have “https” at the beginning of the address and a padlock icon.
  • Do not share personalized features of your payment card (card number, card validity, CVC) and security codes received from the bank.
  • Do not fall for messages from fake delivery services asking you to pay an amount to deliver a package, informing you of the impossibility of delivering the package due to incomplete information, and similar scams.
  • If you receive suspicious messages, delete them from your mailbox.

Regarding the security of online sales or purchases, the Internet Payment Gateway (IPG) plays a crucial role. For your reputation, it is most important whether it operates according to strict rules of the card industry and possesses all necessary certificates, with the PCI DSS Level 1 certificate being the most important. Your customers must be familiar with the IPG – if they have already made many payments through it, they will not hesitate to enter personal and card information and save their cards.

Do not forget – feeling secure is the main prerequisite for online shopping!

Thank you for joining me in building a secure environment for your customers. If you have any questions or need further advice on internet security, I am here to help!
